There are just 24 remaining spaces for golfers in PIN's Annual Charity Golf Tournament, scheduled for 12:30 PM on June 6th. That means just six more teams have a chance to enjoy a great day of golf at The Signature at West Neck, a course designed by the legendary Arnold Palmer.

The cost to play is $125 for individuals and $420 for teams of four. It includes a round of golf, practice balls, a gourmet dinner buffet, and an awards ceremony. All proceeds benefit PIN.

If you've been hearing about PIN and want to learn more, or if you're a long-time supporter interested in an update, then this is the PIN event you won't want to miss.

Email Dallas.Stamper@pinministry.org to register for PIN's May 20th Open House, scheduled for 6:30-8:30 PM. We'll provide a casual dinner, introduce PIN's staff and volunteers, tell you all about the many services we provide, and share PIN's long- and short-term plans.

The highlight of the evening will be a tour of PIN's new offices, inside Beach Pentacostal Church at 503 15th Street in Virginia Beach. This location puts PIN physically closer to the people we serve, and its lower rent price saves us nearly $1,500/month!

Everyone is invited to come check it out and to learn more about PIN's work to help the homeless of Virginia Beach. The deadline to register is Friday, May 17th.

By now you've probably heard that even incidental sun exposure -- the kind you get walking to and from the car, for example -- can lead to skin cancer. Imagine if you were in the sun all day, every day, like our homeless! The sun is just one of many dangers they face, and in warmer months it's intensity can lead to severe burns. Add to that the risks of mosquito, tick and other bug bites, and just a couple "normal" days on the streets can threaten a person's health. Last year, one of our homeless men became host to 30 ticks in a single week!

One way PIN tries to relieve suffering and alleviate health risks for Virginia Beach's homeless is by providing free bug spray and sunblock. But with the number of homeless at the oceanfront, this can get expensive. Please consider donating sunblock with SPF 30 or higher and/or deep woods bug spray to help replenish PIN's supply. You can drop these donations at PIN's office at 503 15th Street.

Our 5th Annual Ping Pong for Charity event is seeking corporate sponsors. It will be held at the Virginia Beach Field House on Friday evening, September 13th and Saturday, September 14th, 2013.

As a sponsor, your company will not only be helping Virginia Beach's homeless, but it will also enjoy the benefits of having its name promoted on PIN's extensive marketing channels. Sponsors receive advertising in the newspaper, on television and radio, and via PIN's social networking media.

PIN's holding an open house for new and long-time supporters at its new location on Monday, May 20th, from 6:30-8:30 PM. With our move to 503 15th St. in Va. Beach, PIN is now located physically closer to the people we serve, and we're saving about $1,500/month in rent! We want to show you our space, introduce you to staff and volunteers, and share near- and long-term plans. You can help PIN raise money for its free dental program by dining out this Friday, May 10th. Just gather a group of friends and go to Buffalo Wild Wings at 356 Laskin Rd. between 4 and 9 PM.  Tell your server you are dining in support of People In Need, and the restaurant will give 10% of your food (not beverage) sales total to PIN. It's that easy. This is a great way to help the homeless, while doing something you were going to do anyway -- eat dinner! Students at Kemps Landing Magnet School donated six large boxes of hygiene supplies this month to PIN. This is such a great example of the community coming together to help neighbors in need. We at PIN are so grateful for these kids' efforts and the community's generosity! Click here to feel the love!

Last year PIN turned $36,000 into $95,000-worth of dental care for 300 poor and homeless residents of Virginia Beach. For some, this care made it possible to begin a successful job search and turn their lives around. But recently, the City unexpectedly withdrew funding for this program.

To continue this important work, PIN has to raise the money that the City once provided. As of April of this year, 
we’ve raised $12,600. But we’ll need your help to raise the remaining $23,400. The limited number of dental clinic hours we are currently able to fund are booked two months out, and we are having to turn suffering people away.

Today's the day we've been waiting for. Starting today, PIN is moving the contents of its office and warehouse to a new location, closer to the oceanfront.
